Who ARE You Anyway?

Over the course of the last four blogs we have uncovered how people are energized (Extravert or Introverts); how they communicate (Sensing or Intuitive); how they make decisions (Thinking or Feeling); and how they prioritize (Judging or Perceiving). If you
have missed any of those blogs you can find them at the links below:

How Are You Energized? Depends on Your Personality

The Secret Code Behind Remarkable Communication

How Do You Make Decisions?

Are You Scheduled or Spontaneous?

What happens when we put all of these together? How is someone who is an introvert, intuitive, feeler, perceiver; different from someone who is an extrovert, sensing, thinker, judger? The different combinations of these four areas (how we are energized, communicate, make decisions, and prioritize) helps us understand our specific personality style. Throughout the rest of the blog I will use the following letters to refer to the following words:

who areE=Extravert

N= Intuitive

Obviously, there are sixteen different variations we can find out of the different combinations of the eight words mentioned above. However, I want to look at the four dominate personality styles according to the combinations. We will look at the sixteen different combinations in a future blog.

SJ=Sensing + Judging

SJ’s are what I call the HEARTS. They are the security-seeking personality. They make up about 40-50% of the world’s population. Their time focus is on the past. A biblical example is Moses. At work or in ministry they want to develop a connection with other people while being able to measure accomplishment. As leaders they are stabilizers.

SP=Sensing + Perceiving

SP’s are what I call the BODIES. They are the thrill-seeking personality. They make up about 30-40% of the world’s population. Their time focus is on the now. A biblical example is Peter. At work and in ministry they want to have fun and be active. As leaders they are troubleshooters.

NF=Intuitive + Feeler

NF’s are what I call the SOULS. They are the identity-seeking personality. They make up about 10-20% of the world’s population. Their time focus is on the future. A biblical example is Barnabas. At work and in ministry they want harmony and a purpose to fulfill. As leaders they are inspirational.

NT=Intuitive + Thinker

NT’s are what I call the MINDS. They are the knowledge-seeking personality. They make up about 5-10% of the world’s population. Their time focus is on intervals (they associate time less with the clock and more with their projects). A biblical example is Paul. At work and in ministry they want to be an individual and they want things done efficiently. As leaders they are strategic.

Those are the four major personality styles. Look at the combination of the eight areas we have covered over the past four blogs and see if you can determine your personality style.
